Educator Emeritus Nominations

It's Teacher Appreciation Week!

There is no better way to celebrate a teacher/administrator that made a difference in your life by nominating them for the Educator Emeritus Hall of Fame. The Wadsworth City Schools' Educator Emeritus Hall of Fame honors and recognizes the retired educators and/or administrators of Wadsworth City Schools who made a significant contribution to students, faculty, and/or the community.

Last year, we had the pleasure of awarding Mr. Wm. Michael Schmeltzer, Sr. our Educator Emeritus Award at our district-wide convocation at the beginning of the school year. Mr. Schmeltzer was a dedicated teacher for 30 years (24 with Wadsworth High School). Mr. Schmeltzer truly cared for his students; he developed the curriculum for both Honors and AP Chemistry classes and started zero period to allow students to take his AP class before school for those who couldn't fit it into their schedules. He would periodically enroll in freshman college classes just to make sure he knew what his students were expected to know when they started their college education. Mike Schmeltzer was nominated by two of his former students, Josh McCaman and Abbey Haas. Josh stated, "Mr. Schmeltzer was a great teacher and inspired me to go into the chemistry field. He was understanding in his communication to all students." Abbey added, "I would not be the nurse I am today without Mr. Schmeltzer's teachings as well as his ability to nurture a student's critical thinking skills and confidence."

If you have a teacher that made an impact in your life, your children's or the community, please nominate them for this prestigious award in education from the link provided.
