December 30 Message from Superintendent Hill

Good afternoon.  I'm writing today for a number of reasons.  The first reason is to let you know that the federal free breakfast and lunch program that was set to expire at the end of December has been extended through the rest of this school year, provided the federal funding lasts that long.  As a result, all students remain eligible for free breakfast and lunch through our last day of school, Friday, June 4, 2021.

Second, students are reminded to bring their district-issued electronic device (and charger) used in remote learning back to school with them on Monday, January 4.

Third, the Wadsworth City School District Board of Education will hold both their organizational and regular-stated January meetings on Monday, January 4, starting at 7:00 p.m.  You can view the agendas, supporting documents and meeting access information by clicking here and looking under the "Meetings" heading.

Fourth, in an effort to provide our community with information, while protecting the privacy of the individual involved, I am writing to inform you that a high school student has tested positive for having COVID-19.  Through the contact tracing process, it was determined that no one will be quarantined at this time.

Finally, at his press conference today, Governor DeWine announced the results of the state's quarantine study and stated that the state is changing the quarantine guidelines for students and employees who are exposed to an affected individual in a classroom.  As long as the students and employees were properly wearing a face covering in the classroom, there will be no additional quarantine of students or employees required.  This change only applies to a classroom situation, not to extracurricular activities or those riding a bus.  As a result, and per my December 17 message, today's news should change how students at Wadsworth High School will return on Monday, January 4.  We are in the process of verifying that the change can be implemented immediately.  Provided we are able to implement the change immediately, students at Wadsworth High School will return to their regular, in-person schedule Monday through Friday, not the hybrid model.  As soon as we receive an answer to our implementation question, I will communicate with you again.

If you have any questions, please contact me at 330-335-1300 or at ahill@wadsworthschools.org.  Thank you for your continued support of our school district.

Andy Hill
