Good afternoon. I'm writing to share good news about a temporary change to our breakfast and lunch programs. We were recently notified that the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Services published nationwide waiver extensions that allow all students to receive a free breakfast and/or lunch on school days. The waiver extensions are scheduled to end on December 31 or whenever the funding is depleted, whichever comes first. We applied for the waiver extension and we found out yesterday that our request was granted. As a result, all of our students are now eligible to eat both breakfast and lunch for free during the period of the waiver extension. This only applies towards full meals. A full meal must contain a fruit or a vegetable option, and two other items, such as milk, protein or grain item. All five options can come with the meal. A la carte items are still charged at full price. Milk only is still charged at $.50 when a full meal is not selected. Adult prices still apply.
This great benefit applies to the students in the Wadsworth Wired program as well. For students in Wadsworth Wired, please continue to sign up for your meals weekly. Pick-up is now available at the high school on Thursday and Friday from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Finally, the waiver extensions are allowed to be applied retroactively to our first student day of school (August 31). As a result, if your child has purchased a full lunch or breakfast since the beginning of the school year, his/her account will be credited accordingly. As we are just beginning to work with PaySchools to apply the credits, we do not have a date by which the credits will be applied, but they will occur.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Kelly Gnap, Food Service Supervisor (email@example.com or 330-335-1436) or me (firstname.lastname@example.org or 330-335-1300). Thank you for your continued support of our school district.
