Message from Dr. Andrew Hill, Superintendent - August 9, 2018

As we prepare for the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, I have a two (2) important updates for you.  

First, as an additional security measure, we will not be posting teacher class rosters for students in grades PreK-6 as we have in years past.  While our past practice has been a much anticipated event for many families each year, not only to find out what teacher their child has but to see the names of other students in their child's class, this practice has the possibility of disclosing sensitive student information to those who are not permitted to know such information.

In place of posting rosters, parent/guardian(s) will be able to access the name of their child's homeroom teacher by logging into Progress Book at any time after noon on Friday, August 10.  If you have forgotten your user name and/or password, you can reset it by clicking here and following the directions under the log in area on the right side of the screen.   If your child attended our school district last year and you have not previously created a Progress Book user name and/or password, you are asked to stop by the main office of your child's school or email your child's principal the week of August 13.  Please note that due to the data upload required for the new school year, we do not anticipate secretaries and principals being able to create the information required to allow you to create a new Progress Book account until Monday, August 13.  

As was previously communicated with the parent/guardian(s) of incoming kindergarten students, teacher assignments will be shared during building kindergarten parent orientations.  In addition, teacher information for preschool students will be available for parent/guardian(s) at the orientation that is scheduled for 6 p.m. on August 22 at Overlook Elementary School.

Second, on Monday, August 20, we will be holding our opening staff meeting for all employees and we will be working with the Wadsworth Police Department to review the A.L.I.C.E. philosophy for intruder situations.  Because this training is critically important for all of our employees to attend, including substitutes who will be invited as well, our buildings will be closed according to the following schedule:

7:00-10:00 a.m.  All buildings, including the Charles R. Parsons Administration Building

10:00-12:15 p.m. Overlook Elementary School, Central Intermediate School, Wadsworth Middle School and Wadsworth High School

12:15-1:00 p.m. All buildings

1:00-3:00 p.m. Franklin Elementary School, Isham Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School and Valley View Elementary School

While closing our buildings for periods of time the day before school starts is not ideal, August 20 is the only day we can have all employees together without interrupting services to students once the school year begins.  We appreciate your understanding of this situation.
