The State Board of Education of Ohio today recognized 28 districts for earning an overall grade of “A” on the 2017-18 Ohio School Report Cards. Isham Memorial and Franklin Elementary schools were two of only 4 elementary schools in Medina County to receive the “Overall A Award.” The Overall A Award is presented by the State Board of Education and recognizes schools that earned an Overall A on their report card.
State Board of Education President, Tess Elshoff, stated, “As an Overall A Award winner, your district’s report card shows your district is demonstrating high academic performance and building bright futures for students of every background and ability level. Congratulations on this impressive achievement!”
“Ohio’s strategic plan for education is the state’s plan to ensure each student is challenged, prepared and empowered for his or her future by way of an excellent prekindergarten through grade 12 education. Our mission is to prepare students for a future that has yet to be written. Your education team has clearly embraced this challenge,” Elshoff noted.
In addition to the Overall A Award, 70 districts received the Momentum Award for exceeding expectations in student growth for the year.
Elshoff continued, “Every day, Ohio’s schools do the challenging but rewarding work of educating our students and building the future of our state and it is an honor to recognize these students, teachers, administrators and parents for their accomplishments.”
