Attention Volunteers

Beginning this year, Wadsworth City Schools are requiring fingerprint and background checks for those volunteers who are in the school on a regular basis. Volunteers who read with students in hallways and our extended learning areas are required to be approved by the Board of Education once their background check and fingerprints are cleared. Mr. Roberts will take the names of those volunteers wishing to have checks completed and notify the central office BEFORE you make an appointment to go through the process. ** IF you are volunteering on a limited basis (Soc Hop; Carnival; etc) you will not have to go through the process. **   You may make an appointment at the Charles Parsons Administration Building between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. (not 12-1:00).  The background/fingerprint checks will cost $46 to process (none of the money goes to the schools).

Free Beach Bags and Virtual Camp to Keep Families Learning

5/24/2016

INFOhio Beach Bags and Camp INFOhio are two sets of free materials that are back by popular demand. INFOhio and the Ohio Department of Education are offering these two resources to give parents more fun ways to keep their children learning at home this summer. No sign-up is necessary. Parents can simply download the packets and work through them with their children at their own pace.

The Beach Bags, for grades K-3, feature stories and activities that let children practice reading skills while learning about careers and the environment. The Beach Bags are:

News about STEM Camp and Computer Science Coding Camp for WCS Students

Once again, we received grant funding from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation that will make a summer STEM Camp for students who are currently enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade in the Wadsworth City Schools.  Camp will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon daily at Wadsworth High School.  Dates for camp will be July 25-29.

Thanks to funding from the Four Cities Compact, we will also be able to hold Computer Science/Coding Camp this year.  Any Wadsworth City Schools’ student enrolled in kindergarten through eleventh grade is eligible to attend.  Camp will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon daily at Wadsworth High School.  Dates for camp will be July 18-22.

In order to give more students the opportunity to attend a camp this year, students will be limited to attend only one camp.  If we end up with extra spots in either camp that are unfilled, a separate sign-up will be held.

District Report Card

The letter that follows was sent to all parents, staff, and community members on February 25, 2016 from Dr. Hill, Superintendent:

Dear Parent/Guardian(s):

The purpose of this letter is to address the release of our most recent report card from the State of Ohio; the report card is from the 2014-2015 school year.  Due to the PARCC tests that were given last year (these tests are no longer used by our state) and the time needed to receive and decipher the results, report cards were released by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) much later than usual.  The first part of the report card was released on January 14 and the second, and final, part today.
