Congrats to Russell McCune, Wadsworth's first all-Ohioan since Chris Morrison back in 1997! Russell finished 6th at the race in Scioto Downs with a PR of 15:36. That time lowers our school record he set earlier at Tiffin and becomes the new course standard for Wadsworth High School. Russell has now set course records for our school at Memorial Park (16:20), Goodyear (tie with Andy Clifford at 16:27), LCCC (16:07), Tiffin (15:44), and Scioto Downs (15:36).
Russell finished 5th on a windy day at regionals to punch Wadsworth's 1st ticket to Columbus since Chris Morrison back in 1997, finishing with a time of 15:45, 1 second away from his pr. Nate Tipton placed a solid 21st, with a whopping 17 second pr to finish at 16:17, one of the fastest times ever run by a Wadsworth runner (4th best runner since 1995 behind Russell McCune, Andy Clifford, and Chris Morrison). Zac Hughes ran the race of his life with a pr of 17:ll to finish 78th, and Nathan McDevitt placed 87th with a time of 17:17. Greg Young capped off a stellar first year performance with a 10 second pr of 17:37 to finish out the scording, while Spencer Schleigh and Jon Norstrom ran 17:42 and 17:46, respectively.
As a team, we finished 8th, our best regional since 1995 (1996 = 11th; 1997 = 11th; 2009 = 13th). Many thanks to all the teammates and parents who made the journey to cheer on the guys and set the tone for many future Wadsworth team regional performances.
