Random Drug Testing of Students

A part of our Strategic Plan 2016-2020 involves examining our current drug prevention programs and researching what other school districts do in the area of drug prevention.  Through this process, we identified random alcohol, drug and nicotine testing of students as an area we would like to explore further.  At the April 2016 Wadsworth City School District Board of Education meeting, Dr. Hill shared that a committee would be formed to explore this topic.

Legally, public school districts are allowed to randomly test students who participate in extracurricular activities that are not tied to an academic grade and students who purchase parking passes that allow them to drive to school.

COLLEGE NOW SESSIONS

For most of our senior students, we are in the middle of what we call "Application Season."  It's a busy but exciting time!  This time of year, deadlines are nearing for many college applications, college scholarships, and federal financial aid forms. We encourage your student to watch their school-specific deadlines and plan ahead.  Every school has different deadlines, so organization is important.  (Some Ohio public colleges have Dec. deadlines for the FAFSA- just something to keep in mind!)   Yes, this all  takes a lot of extra time right now, but you and your student will be thankful for this investment of time later.
